Jatarious is a proud resident of Ward 5 and a DC government employee, serving all 8 wards of the District. He began his work in LGBTQ+ advocacy in Houston, Texas, where, as Vice President of the Houston Stonewall Young Democrats, he organized and mobilized young LBGTQ+ Democrats across the Greater Houston Area to support of pro-equality candidates and ballot initiatives such as the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO). In this office, he also campaigned for Wendy Davis’ 2014 Gubernatorial campaign as well as Sylvester Turner’s 2015 Mayoral campaign. In 2015 Jatarious relocated to Washington, DC to intern in the office of the late Congresswoman Louise Slaughter. During this time, Jatarious became active with the DC Young Democrats and the DC Democratic Party.

In 2016, Jatarious was elected Secretary of the DC Young Democrats in a special election. In this capacity, Jatarious streamlined communications and worked to increase youth voter engagement across the District. In 2018, Jatarious was re-elected to continue this work. Also in 2018, he was elected as the Vice President of Administration for the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club, where he has worked to improve the organization’s accounting processes, digital communications, and outreach. In 2019. Jatarious was re-elected to a second term as Vice President of Administration to continue his progress in improving the organization's operations and outreach.

In 2019, Jatarious was elected Second Vice Chair for the Ward 5 Democrats. In this role, has elevated the organization's fundraising operations, internal and external communications, and event programming. In the same year, under the direction of Chairman Charles Wilson, Jatarious reinstated the DC Democratic Party’s monthly newsletter and strategic calendar to improve intraparty communication as well as outreach. In addition to his various roles within the Democratic Party, Jatarious also serves as a board member of the DC Center.
